Ways to trade stock

Enter your stock orders in more than one way:

  • Interactive Voice Response (IVR) phone system — Place stock trades simply and economically using the hassle-free IVR system.
  • Wireless device — Use your Web-enabled phone or handheld device to place a stock trade.
  • With stock broker assistance — Place stock trades with the assistance of a professional, licensed TD AMERITRADE  broker.

Conditional orders

Trade efficiently and stay disciplined with conditional orders. Help minimize risk without having to constantly monitor the market when you preset a strategy to simultaneously submit multiple, related orders. There are three basic choices — One Cancels Another (OCA), One Triggers Another (OTA) and One Triggers Two (OTT).

Extended-hours trading

TD AMERITRADE helps online traders stay on top of the market by offering Extended-Hours Trading before and after the regular market session. Please note: Extended-Hours Trading involves additional risks and is subject to special rules. Clients should review these rules prior to engaging in Extended-Hours Trading.
  • Extend AM: 8 a.m.-9:15 a.m. ET
  • Extended PM: 4:15 p.m.-8 p.m. ET
  • Seamless: 8 a.m.-8 p.m. ET
  • Shown as Day + Ext or Good Till Canceled (GTC) + Ext.

Pink Sheet and OTCBB securities

At TD AMERITRADE, you can trade Over the Counter Bulletin Board (OTCBB) or pink sheet securities, and get free real-time bid and ask quotes for them. And online trades are still only $9.99 per Internet equity order, regardless of the price of the security or the number of shares you trade. Please note, though, that OTCBB and pink sheet securities are often very volatile and subject to increased risks. Trading is subject to special rules. Clients should review these rules prior to engaging in OTCBB and pink sheet securities trading.

Saved orders

Set up orders strategically with saved orders. Save up to 50 different orders and place them later, when you're ready, depending on your trading strategy. Saved orders can be sent in alone or in a group. Select all saved buy or sell orders, for example, and quickly place them all at one time.
